Dave Kaufmann, Jr. Wins Ford Speed Match at Dixie Nationals 


  Bon Aqua, TN: The stage is set and twenty riders are  prepared to embark upon a competition that has never been  seen.
 
  Scott Lumley Promotions and the Dixie Nationals teamed up  to introduce Speed Match, a competition that pits riders in  a head to head, single elimination race. Dave Kaufmann, Jr.  and Dustin Johnson were the last two riders standing.  Within seconds Kaufmann emerged victorious and the first to  conquer the Ford Speed Match.
 
  Kaufmann is a junior at the University of Southern  Mississippi that has been team penning for eight years.  This Slidell, Louisiana native is a three time AQHA World  Champion and NRS Pro-Novice Champion. After being out of  team penning for two years due to a hip injury incurred  while playing football, this young rider is coming on  strong and taking team penning by storm.
 
  Speed Match is a contest that commands an execution of  agility, speed and cattle reading ability of both rider and  horse. Hometown favorite Sonya Bynam was one of three women  in Speed Match that proved she could not only stand up to  the men but beat them. Beating out Joey Sheppard the #2  Novice in the World, Scott Lumley, #1 All-Pro rider and  series name sake and Grady Underwood the #4 Pro in the  World. Finally barley being beaten out by Kaufmann.
